Definition: Amygdalin, also known as laetrile, is a substance found in pits of many fruits, primarily apricot. It was promoted, under the incorrect name of Vitamin B-17, as a cancer cure by Dr. Krebs. Many alternative treatments are classified as unproven. However, this treatment has been proven to be ineffective in many clinical trials. Since the active component is cyanide it can also harm you.
