Adenopathy (Lymphadenopathy)

Definition: A term used to describe enlarged lymph nodes found on physical examination or scans. Technically it only means enlargement, but for a patient with ovarian cancer, this may mean that the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. Adenopathy can also occur due to inflammation or infection.
Pronunciation: A-deh-NAH-pah-thee
Common Misspellings: adenopathee, adenothy
Examples: The CAT scan showed enlarged lymph nodes and this adenopathy was confirmed during surgery.
